Jake Roberts

Lead Docent
Media and Information Major / Museum Studies Minor

Jake Roberts is the newly created lead docent at the MSU Museum. His duties include acting as a liaison between education staff and the docent and volunteers, and training new volunteers and docents. Jake started his work with the museum as a Marketing and Communications intern last summer, and became a docent in November. As Lead Docent Jake will also be working with the education team to coordinate the Fall 2017 Docent Training Program sessions.

Jake’s other activities include working with the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. There, Jake works as a gallery guide, a festival lead (representing the Museum at Lansing area festivals), and as an exhibitions intern. Additionally, Jake is the events coordinator and Lansing liaison for the Michigan Emerging Museum Professionals group, where he looks for ways to connect Museum Professional with their community. And that is not all, Jake manages the Museum Studies Program website and serves as editorial assistant for the e-newsletter. The newsletter goes out to students, faculty, and alumni and keeps them updated on the MSU museum studies program, and the local museum scene as well.  Sign up for the newsletter by emailing msumsp@msu.edu.

If anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer or docent at MSU Museum, they can email museumed@msu.edu or call 517-432-1472 to sign up.
