Position Descriptions


Buddy Greet and orient performers to festival stage. Help transport performers from Marriott to performance stage.

Bucket Brigade This is a fun one! Provide the opportunity for festival goers to support the festival with a donation as you pass through the crowd. Last year we raised over $27,000!

Children’s Area Facilitate children’s activities (games crafts and performances) by assisting and encouraging children’s participation, Assist with visitor questions and safety.

Music Stage Loggers Accurately log live musical performances and demonstrations in sound booth. Record performances to DAT tapes

Information Booth Provide information tot he general public including performance times, restroom locations, transportation options, directions…

Set-up crew Volunteers will set up and/or take down Site signs, Tent signs, Banners (will use ladders) and Dance floor. Please indicate which area you would like to be assigned. We are looking for team leaders as well

Volunteer Registration Check-in volunteers prior to each shift at the Marriott Hotel

Performer Registration Check in performers and answer questions at the Festival Desk, located at the Marriott Hotel

Games Coordinator Assist game performers and staff interpreters with card games

Folk Arts Workshops assist artists and participants at Friday afternoon traditional craft workshops located at East Lansing Recreation and Arts

Green Room Staff the Green Room where food and beverages are provided for performers, volunteers and staff

Site Coordinator Oversee stage areas and resolve issues such as seating, crowd control, lost children and bucket brigade

Floater Act as fill-in at sites that need assistance during the festival

In-house Volunteers Assist GLFF staff prepare materials (name tags, volunteer/performer packets, info books) prior to the festival. We also need on-call office help during the month of August.

Bike Parking “Free Guarded Bicycle Parking” Volunteers will help check-in and check-out bicycles for festival goers.

Transportation Transport performers, staff and equipment to music stages. Must be able to drive a golf cart.

CD Sales Assist with performer CD sales

Festival Store Assist staff with store booth sales of unique and
exotic items.

Merchandise Sales Assist staff in t-shirt and novelty sales, some
retail experience helpful.
