In 1996, Eraina Palmer (Wasco Warm Springs Hoopa) made this quilt in memory of her grandmother, Ruby Coone. Traditional Wasco believe that each person has an Indian spirit animal (Ta Wan Mus) for his or her medicine. When you are young you are sent on a journey up a mountain. On this trip, you will converse with a special animal and that animal will become your medicine power for all of your life. In the center of each log cabin block is fabric printed with an eagle, Coone's spirit animal.
