"Elizabeth H. Metz 1904-1905" is stitched in redwork
embroidery set in a floral wreath on the center block. More than
half of the blocks are florals, other designs are childrens' story
book images, peacock feathers, cats, dog, children, turkey, violin,
and mandolin. Some of the designs were not completely transfered.
For example, the girl in the left corner is missing a leg.
Some of the redwork designs are from "Home Beautiful"
and "Ladies Home Journal".
The seams are embroidered with a herringbone stitch. The seams
are flat-fell seams, allowing the back of the coverlet to look finished.
It is not quilted.
