The quilt was made by Helen Erickson of Emporia, Kansas in
memory of Betty Hagerman, who wrote A Meeting of the Sunbonnet
Children. She also wrote for Quilter's Newsletter Magazine
and was a noted quilt historian. Both Helen Erickson and Betty Hegerman
were longtime friends and colleagues of Benberry.
Cuesta Benberry wrote, "The late Betty Hagerman loved
purple fabrics. After Betty died, Helen took Betty's huge stash
of purple fabrics and made purple charm quilts for people that Betty
had especially liked. I was one of the fortunate recipients of the
'Betty liked you' charm quilts."
