New on view: Carousel Galloper!
Few amusement parks exist without a beautifully adorned carousel. Its earliest roots can be traced to Byzantium, where simple baskets were spun around a central pole. The modern carousel as we know is a product of the Industrial Revolution, when advances in metallurgy and machining allowed for the installation of bevel gears and offset cranks, creating the familiar up-and-down motion of the ride. The iconic carousel horses are often referred to as gallopers, jumpers, roundabouts and flying horses.
