Half a century ago, a monumental book was published that created a holistic and balanced view of the environment. The book, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson, was directly influenced by the work of a Michigan State professor and his students, so the MSU Museum chose to honor their work with an exhibit.

The MSU Museum has selected the 2012 Nelson Mandela Museum-Michigan State University Museum Curatorial Fellowship recipient, Benjamin Brühwiler, a Ph.D. candidate in the African history program at MSU.

In the newly published “The Amphibians and Reptiles of Michigan,” author and the late MSU Museum Curator Emeritus J. Alan Holman (1931-2006) explores the state’s amphibians and reptiles in detail and with many helpful illustrations, making this the only volume of its kind.

On Friday, May 18, the MSU Museum joins thousands of museums around the world to mark International Museum Day. The International Council of Museums (ICOM), headquartered in Paris, proclaimed this year's theme, "Museums in a Changing World: New Challenges, New Inspirations."
