Great big fun and fitness come in a dinosaur-sized package at the MSU Museum's annual MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash on Sunday, Oct. 2. This event draws more people to the MSU Museum than on any other day throughout the year.

The fast, flat 5K race is a fall-time favorite and a long-time benefit for the Michigan State University Museum educational programs. Meanwhile, a full line-up of activities creates colossal-fossil fun for the entire family.

Dashers compete in several different divisions and dinosaur trophies are awarded to overall male and female winners in both the running and walking categories. New this year to help accommodate the large field of runners at this popular event: a 9:30 a.m. start for the first wave of runners (with expected finish times under 30 minutes).

Meanwhile, three special runs are designed for the younger crowd: the Museum Mile for youths 12 and under to run or walk a one-mile loop, and the Mini-Dash, an all-out 200-yard sprint for kids 6 and under. A new Diaper Dash is designed for the youngest of dashers, along with their parents and companions. All participants receive an official Dinosaur Dash medal, and children will also get a souvenir dinosaur mask in celebration of the museum's special exhibit, "MASK: Secrets & Revelations."
