ONLINE REGISTRATION OPEN: Register for the MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash, Oct. 7
Cruise the fossil freeway at the MSU Museum's annual MSU Federal Credit Union Dinosaur Dash on Sunday, Oct. 7.
The fast, flat 5K race is a fall-time favorite and a long-time benefit for the Michigan State University Museum educational programs. Meanwhile, a full line-up of activities creates colossal-fossil fun for the entire family.
Dashers compete in several different divisions and dinosaur trophies are awarded to overall male and female winners in both the running and walking categories. To help accommodate the large field of runners at this event in the Playmakers Greater Lansing Race Series, the first of two waves of runners will start at 9:30 a.m. (for those expected to finish in under 30 minutes) in front of the MSU Museum, 409 W. Circle Drive.
Meanwhile, three special runs are designed for the younger crowd: the Museum Mile for youths 12 and under to run or walk a one-mile loop, and the Mini-Dash, an all-out 200-yard sprint for kids 6 and under. The popular new Diaper Dash is designed for the youngest of dashers, along with their parents and companions. All participants receive an official Dinosaur Dash medal.
Also opening on "Dash" weekend is a new special exhibit in the MSU Museum Main Gallery, "Cruisin' the Fossil Freeway with Artist Ray Troll and Paleontologist Kirk Johnson." The whimsical exhibit features fossil-inspired artwork, along with fossils from the MSU Museum natural science collections. The exhibit is sponsored by the MSU Federal Credit Union.
