National Folk Festival Accessibility
The National Folk Festival on August 13 – 15, 1999 in downtown East Lansing is committed to being accessible to those with disabilities. Services will be provided at the festival to help make the wonderful music and other program elements fully accessible to all visitors.

Parking for vehicles with wheelchair tags or cards will be reserved next to St. John’s Student Parish, 327 M.A.C. Avenue; east of the Valley Court Community Center; and designated areas at each Park and Ride parking area.

10 wheelchairs will be available for lean at the Main information booth in the park on the corner of Abbott Road and Albert Avenue for a returnable deposit of $20 and a photo I.D.

Wheelchair –accessible portable toilets will be available on-site, including at least one large enough to allow privacy for two people who need assistance.

7 performances will be sign language interpreted including; the kickoff dance party with Bill Kirchen & Too Much Fun, M.A.C. Stage Fri; 5:30 PM; John Cephas & Phil Wiggins, Valley Court Stage Fri. 7:30 PM; John Styles, Abbott Road Stage Sat. 1:00 PM Marcia Ball, Valley Court Stage Sat. 3:00 PM; The Lynn Morris Band, Valley Court Stage Sat. 5:00 PM; Chris Adroin & Double Clutchin’, AT&T Albert Avenue Dance Stage Sat. 9:00 PM; & the mighty walker Brothers, Valley Court Stage Sun. 4:00 PM.

There will be a special seating area for visitors in wheelchairs and those desiring sign language interpretation at the front of each of the Festival’s program areas.

Braille and audio versions of Festival schedules and other important information will be available at the Main info booth.
