In the best tradition of summer family fun visitors to the National Folk Festival will be asked to bring their lawn chairs and Blankets to the Valley Court Park Stage. The Festival, August 13 – 15, 1999 in downtown East Lansing, will host visitors from across the state. The Valley Court Stage is located on the west side of the downtown, one block off of Grand River Avenue, behind Beaner’s Coffee Shop and Peoples Church. It will be the sire of a large stage offering near continuos performances starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 1999 and continuing to the festival close at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 15, 1999. Self propelled portable seating will allow visitors to select their own spot, draw up their favorite blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the entertainment.
Those with children will want to also visit the Children’s Activities Area near by. On Friday evening Abrams Planetarium will offer stargazing. From noon on Saturday until 6:00 p.s. on Sunday the Children’s Folk Activity Area will offer crafts, games, storytelling and other fun things for children to do.
