What is the Michigan 4-H FOLKPATTERNS Program?

How to get started with a FOLKPATTERNS project

What is the Michigan 4-H FOLKPATTERNS Program?

FOLKPATTERNS is a cultural heritage program for children that encourages them to explore and document historical and traditional patterns in their own lived, their families and their communities such as games, stories, foods, family lore, art, celebrations, architecture, songs, dance, and more.

If you are interested in traditions, history, traditional crafts, foods, or your own heritage, the FOLKPATTERNS program is for you.

Help many kids discover the traditional in their lives and in the lives of others. Connect kids with tradition-bearers in their own communities. Discover how culturally diverse every community is!.

FOLKPATTERNS is a joint project of Michigan 4-H Youth Programs and the Michigan State University Museum.
