Michigan Weaving History Project

The Michigan Weaving History Project is a multi-year project to document the history and current activities of Michigan's handweaving guilds and the state weaving organization, Michigan League of Handweavers (MLH). In partnership with the MLH, MTAP is continuing to provide consultation and archival storage and documentation for the resulting photographs, artifacts, tapes and other materials that are uncovered and created in this project.

Long-range plans are for a MSU Museum exhibition and possible exhibit catalog to celebrate weaving and weaving guilds in Michigan, projected for 2004. The immediate goal of the project is for more guilds to complete their documentation to provide a more comprehensive collection from which to build the exhibition. For further information, contact Marie Gile at 517-371-1214 or by email: gile@pilot.msu.edu.
