Anna-Marie Herman and Jill Plesko
2015 master artist and apprentice
Lansing (Ingham County)
Fiber arts

Anna-Marie Herman was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan. She began learning to knit from her mother at age two. The tradition of knitting is an art that has been very prevalent with the women of her family for several generations. Because fiber arts were a huge part of her curriculum as a home-schooled child, she was able to spend as much time as she desired honing her skills and exploring different techniques and mediums.

Anna has taught various workshops and private lessons, both to groups and individuals. She worked for several years at Rae’s Yarn Boutique, a Lansing store beloved by local fiber artists but now-closed. Apprentice Jill Plesko also has a deep familial connection to the fiber arts and hopes to honor these ties by expanding her skill through this apprenticeship.
