SUMMARY:AI and Academic Use Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:There’s a new section on your class syllabi: a statement of a
cceptable use for generative AI algorithms like ChatGPT. Is it ok to use i
t to generate a draft outline? a whole essay? a polished and proofread ver
sion? What’s the difference between ChatGPT proofreading your paper and
running it through AutoCorrect or Grammarly? Generative AI tools are explo
ding in accessibility and sophistication since the end of last semester\,
and they have implications in all areas of higher education\, from content
creation and plagiarism detection to personalization in learning. The MSU
Museum CoLab Studio and the Department of Writing\, Rhetoric\, and Americ
an Cultures (WRAC) invite you to join the conversation about the pros and
cons of these tools\, and the ethics of their use. [Disclaimer: We used Ch
atGPT to write the first draft of this text!]\n\nThis conversation is part
of the Prompt Response pop-up exhibition by the MSU Museum CoLab Studio\,
and is co-sponsored by WRAC.\n\nREGISTER HERE
