Join us in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month with a captivating talk by Jorge Zamanillo, the visionary Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino. In this engaging presentation, Jorge will share his remarkable journey from his early days as an archaeologist in Miami to becoming the driving force behind the establishment of this groundbreaking Museum established by Congress in December 2020.

With a deep passion for preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Latino contributions to the art, history, and culture of the United States, Jorge Zamanillo’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping the Museum’s mission. Born in New York City and raised in Miami, Jorge Zamanillo’s personal connection to his work adds a unique perspective to his achievements. He holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Florida State University and a master’s in museum studies from the University of Leicester in England.
