Join the exhibitors behind the Food Fight! exhibit “One Fun Guy’s Trash is Another Fungi’s Treasure” and the MSU Mycological Society in growing edible oyster mushrooms. This is a great opportunity to learn about how fungi are cultivated and how you can easily cultivate them at home. Following a short discussion about the fungal life cycle, participants will fill recycled glass bottles with straw and mushroom spawn. They then can take the mushroom kit home and watch over the next few weeks as their oyster mushrooms grow. This workshop is open to all ages.
