Elementary Education Major
Minor in Museum Studies

Originally from Kalamazoo, Caylee Allen is in her senior year at Michigan State University. Her independent study at the MSU Museum is focused on researching the Museum’s LGBT collection and how it relates to similar collections around the world. Caylee became interested in the Museum’s LGBT collection after a research project in MSUM 488 (Museum Curatorial Practices). She chose to research a t-shirt from the 1993 March on Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation. The t-shirt and her research were included in the course's Spring 2017 exhibit entitled (RE) Dress: Outfitting Controversy in the MSU Union Gallery.

Caylee also studies science, and her favorite displays at the MSU Museum are the fossil exhibits. Caylee’s dream job is a museum educator, combining her interests in education and museum studies.
