The MSU Museum’s Excellence in Museum Practice Internship
The MSU Museum’s “Excellence in Museum Practice Internship” provides interns with an introduction to museum practice through hands-on experience. This internship program offers opportunities for students to explore different careers in museums and gain professional experience. The intern will spend the first half of the semester exploring different areas of the museum, for example, natural science collections, cultural collections, education, exhibition design, and communication. The second half of the semester will focus on a specific museum area. The intern will complete a project within the specific area that meets a real-world need.
Potential candidates should have an interest in museums, should be able to work collaboratively and independently as well as take direction, and should be prepared to interact with museum visitors (including the general public, MSU faculty and students, and/or PreK-12 audiences) and museum staff.
