Today, the Michigan State University (MSU) Museum launched a new, digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and cultural app created by Bloomberg Philanthropies. The Bloomberg Connects app, available for download from Google Play or the App Store, makes the MSU Museum accessible for either onsite or offsite visits through photo, audio, and video features, offering insights into exhibitions and collections.
The launch of the digital guide coincides with the opening of the Museum’s exhibition, Techno: The Rise of Detroit’s Machine Music, which celebrates the city’s iconic contributions to global electronic music culture. Through the app, users can access behind-the-scenes insights, expert commentary, and curated content that brings this exhibition to life. The guide not only enhances engagement with Techno: The Rise of Detroit’s Machine Music but also integrates the MSU Museum into Bloomberg Connects’ global network of cultural institutions, broadening access to its exhibitions and collections.
“Through this partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, we are making the MSU Museum more accessible than ever before,” said Devon Akmon, Director of the MSU Museum. “This guide reflects our goal to inspire curiosity and creativity by seamlessly integrating technology into the Museum experience. Whether you are exploring our exhibitions from the comfort of your home or onsite, this app invites users to engage with the Museum in new and innovative ways.”
Bloomberg Connects offers free digital guides to cultural organizations worldwide. The app is part of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ ongoing commitment to supporting digital innovation in the arts. With content unique to each institution, Bloomberg Connects provides users with video, audio, expert commentary, way-finding maps, and other interactive tools to enhance their museum experience.
