The MSU Museum will launch Unwind, a monthly series designed to help students relax, connect, and recharge, with a Silent Disco in the Beal Botanical Garden on Thursday, September 3, at 7:00 p.m. The free event will welcome MSU students for an evening of music, movement, and community as they celebrate the start of the fall semester.
Participants will receive wireless headphones and choose from multiple music channels while dancing beneath the trees of the Beal Botanical Garden, creating a uniquely immersive start to the academic year.
Created to support student well-being and belonging, Unwind offers monthly opportunities for students to recharge, connect, and experience the Museum as a welcoming gathering place beyond the classroom. Throughout the academic year, the series will offer evenings of creativity, mindfulness, games, artmaking, and other shared experiences designed to bring students together from across majors, years, and backgrounds in a relaxed, low-pressure environment.
“At the MSU Museum, we believe museums can play an important role in supporting student success,” said Devon Akmon, Director of the MSU Museum. “Unwind creates opportunities for students to step away from academic pressures, connect with one another, and discover the Museum as a place where they belong. These moments of creativity, curiosity, and community contribute to student well-being while helping build the relationships that strengthen the overall campus experience.”
All Unwind events are free, but advance registration is recommended as space is limited.
Michigan State University Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) generously supports Unwind, enabling the MSU Museum to provide these unique experiences to college students.
